Use Voicethread to make your PPT more interesting & effective!

Upload your narrated PPT to Wikispaces, & your classmates can view, listen to, & even comment on your presentation.

CREATE YOUR WIKISPACES PAGE:
Step 1: Go to http://wikispaces.com. Click Get Started if you don’t have an account or Sign In if you do. Use only your first name & last initial. You may need to add numbers after your name to make it unique. Click No to #4 - you don’t want to create a new Wiki.

Step 2: Click the Search tab & type in the name of your class wiki. Click Join This Wiki and Request Membership. After your teacher accepts you as a member, click the refresh button (F5). You will see the words New Page on the top left.

Step 3: Click New Page. Create a new page & name it your first name & last initial (example: LindsayA). Click Edit, type your PPT name, & click Save. Log out.

ADD YOUR VOICE TO PPT & UPLOAD TO YOUR WIKI PAGE:
Step 1: Create your PPT. You are adding your voice, so you don’t need a lot of text. Don’t add animations & sounds because these will not appear in Voicethread. Save your PPT as a PowerPoint Presentation as you are creating it and when you are done. Then, save it again as a JPEG File Interchange Format. Click Choose Every Slide & click O.K.

Step 2: Write your script for each slide so you will sound professional.

Step 3: Go to http://voicethread.com. Click Sign in or Register an account on the upper right. Follow the instructions. You will need to use your email address & create a password.

Step 4: Select the picture you want to represent you on Voicethread. Choose from clip art or the Internet, & save the image to your folder on the computer.

Step 5: Click Create. Follow #1 and click Upload from My Computer. Browse your computer & upload your PPT saved as a JPEG File Interchange Format.

Step 6: At the bottom of the screen, click Playback Options & make these changes:
  • Change to: Wait 0 seconds before turning a page.
  • Check the box: Show fullscreen when opened.

Step 7: Also at the bottom of the screen, click Publishing Options & make these changes:
  • Check the box: Allow anyone to view.
  • Check the boxes Allow Anyone to Comment if your teacher says you will be commenting on your classmates’ PowerPoints.

Step 8: Get a microphone, click Comment, & begin recording.

Step 9: When your presentation is complete, click Copy Link & Share.

Step 10: Go to http://wikispaces.com . Paste your Voicethread link onto your Wiki page. Log out of Voicethread & Wikispaces!
